The "over 30 seconds" rule and never used copyrighted music
Always make your YouTube videos over 30 seconds long and never used copyrighted music. This is for one main very important reason: if you ever have an opportunity to make money from partnering with YouTube and placing advertisements on the video, that video will need to be over 30 seconds long and have no copyrighted material in it.

Finding an Untapped YouTube Audience
Find an audience that has not been tapped yet. For example, devote your channel to exploring different kinds of tires or masonry work; or any kind of unique hobbies. These may seem unpopular, but you have no competition in these fields and your subscribers will love you. With the partnership program YouTube has (which allows selected YouTube members to make money off advertisements on their video video), advertisers will come running.
